Straight answer

Divi 5 is out. Here is what Divi 4 support actually is.

You have probably seen a countdown somewhere. There isn't one. Elegant Themes has been clear that nobody has to rush, and we would rather tell you that than sell you a clock.

What Elegant Themes said

In the Divi 5 launch announcement on February 26, 2026, Nick Roach wrote that Elegant Themes will keep supporting Divi 4 for at least the next 12 months, and longer if that proves practical, with security and WordPress compatibility updates throughout.

He also wrote that there is no rush. If you do not opt in to Divi 5, you stay on the Divi 4 update path. On the migration guide published later, Elegant Themes described the 12 months as the current time frame and said they will reevaluate when they get there.

Read the announcement

In plain terms

Promised Divi 4 security and compatibility updates run until at least February 2027. After that, Elegant Themes takes another look. Your site does not switch off, break, or convert itself. What ends is the promise of updates.

The Divi 5 notice is something you opt into from your Divi dashboard. It is not a forced change that lands on a date somebody invented.

So what is the real question?

Not when. How. Every Divi site moves to Divi 5 eventually. The only real choice is whether you find the problems on a staging copy on a quiet afternoon, or on your live site in the middle of a business day.

What makes Divi 5 different

Not an update. A complete rebuild.

Three years in development. Every line of code rewritten. Performance and design capability that were not possible in Divi 4.

Measured performance gains

Elegant Themes reports large improvements across every metric they tested. Pages that took around two seconds to load in Divi 4 load in under one second in their testing.

  • 41% faster response times on simple pages
  • 47% smaller page sizes

A real design system

Global Variables and Presets change how sites get built. Define your brand once, then change a color everywhere on the site with a single edit instead of hunting through modules.

  • Site-wide updates in seconds, not hours

Modern architecture

The old shortcode storage is gone, replaced by modern JSON. The Visual Builder loads several times faster, which is the change you feel every single day you edit the site.

  • JavaScript cut from 276kb to 45kb

Every figure in this section comes from Elegant Themes testing and documentation, not from Sitez benchmarks. We measure your own site before and after your migration and hand you those numbers.

The real question

Why migrate on your schedule, in staging, instead of clicking Update on a live site later

You can wait. Elegant Themes says so, and we agree. Here is what you get by choosing the moment instead of letting the moment choose you.

You control the timing

Pick your own maintenance window. Not during your busy season. Not while you are on vacation. Not at random on a Tuesday morning with customers on the site.

Professional testing instead of live discovery

Beat the rush, whenever it comes

Try finding a roofer the day after a hailstorm hits your neighborhood. When Divi 4 support does start winding down, every developer who works on Divi gets busy at the same time. Booking early is simply cheaper and calmer than booking late.

Migrate during your slow period, not everyone else's

The gains start when you migrate

A faster site is worth more the longer you have it. For a store, that is better conversion. For everyone, it is better Core Web Vitals feeding your search rankings. Every month you wait is a month you are not getting it.

Performance improvements compound over time

Not sure you need professional help to upgrade?

Plenty of you are more than capable of doing this yourselves. If you are not sure whether it is in your wheelhouse, run our free Divi 5 Upgrade Assessment tool. It will help you decide, and it costs nothing either way.

Our proven process

Six steps to a safe migration

Find the problems in staging, not in production. No surprises, no downtime, no broken site.

1

Comprehensive audit

We identify every third-party plugin, custom code snippet, and likely compatibility issue before we touch your site.

2

Staging clone

Your live site stays untouched while we test everything on an exact replica of it.

3

Automated and manual testing

Automated link and image checks across the whole site, plus hands-on checks of the pages that matter. Forms, WooCommerce checkout, and mobile layouts all get tested.

4

Issue resolution

We fix whatever the testing turns up. Plenty of sites come through with nothing to fix at all.

5

Retest and verify

Every fix gets confirmed working on staging before anything goes near the live site.

6

Live upgrade and benchmarking

We run the upgrade in the maintenance window you chose, then measure your site before and after so the improvement is a number, not a claim.

Simple pricing

One package, clear add-ons

No tiers, no confusion. Professional migration for $495, with optional add-ons only if your site actually needs them.

  • Scheduled production upgrade. During the maintenance window you choose.

Protect My Site

Common questions

Frequently asked questions

Short answers, no scare tactics.

Can I just wait and click the button myself?

Yes, and Elegant Themes says the same thing. There is no rush, and the migration works cleanly for a lot of sites.

The risk was never a calendar date. It is custom code, a specific plugin combination, a Theme Builder layout, or a WooCommerce checkout behaving differently than you expected. If any of that describes your site, you want to find out on a staging copy rather than while customers are shopping.

Will my third-party plugins work?

Most will. Some still run in backward compatibility mode, which means they work but the pages they touch do not get the full Divi 5 performance benefit.

Plugin developers have been updating their products steadily since the Divi 5 release, and part of what the audit does is tell you exactly where yours stand before anything changes.

What if something goes wrong during migration?

This is exactly what the staging step is for. Compatibility issues, broken integrations, and layout problems get found on the copy, not on your live site. We have documented rollback procedures and we fix things before your customers ever see them.

When you migrate yourself without staging and something breaks, the site is down until you work out why.

How long will the upgrade take?

The live upgrade itself is 15 to 30 minutes. The testing and preparation beforehand runs 5 to 10 hours, depending on how complex your site is and how familiar the person doing it is with Divi migrations.

What happens if I do nothing?

For at least 12 months from February 26, 2026, you keep getting Divi 4 security and compatibility updates. Elegant Themes has said they will reevaluate at the end of that window, and may extend it.

After that, your site still runs. What stops is the promise of updates. You will migrate eventually, and the only question is whether it happens with professional testing on your timing, or by clicking the button yourself and handling whatever comes up live.

Is there a deadline I need to beat?

No, and you should be skeptical of anyone selling you one. February 26, 2026 was the Divi 5 release date, not a cutoff, and the support window runs at least a year past it.

We would rather you migrate on a quiet week because it suits you than on a panicked one because somebody put a countdown clock on a web page.
