Can everyone use your website?
People who use a keyboard instead of a mouse, a screen reader, or zoomed-in text run into problems most site owners never see. This audit checks your site against WCAG 2.2 Level AA, the current version of the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines.
How I test
I pick 12 to 15 pages that cover every kind of page on your site, including the homepage, any page with a form, and your contact path. On each one I check headings, image text, link names, form labels and the page language.
Then I test color contrast, tap target size, keyboard focus and zoom in a real browser, at desktop width and again at phone width. That includes the checks that are new in WCAG 2.2.
I also run the WebAIM WAVE tool and include its numbers, with a plain explanation of what they do and do not mean. WAVE is a good first pass, but on its own it is not a conformance test.
Automated tools flag plenty of things that are not really broken. I check every finding against the live site before it goes in the report.
What you get
A written report that starts with a clear answer on where your site stands and what is already working. Each finding names the WCAG success criterion it falls under. The fix list is sorted three ways:
- Fix now - problems that keep people from using the site
- Fix next - worth doing soon
- Nice to have - improvements that can wait
Some things need a person to judge, such as text placed over photos. Those are listed as open items, with who should settle each one.
You decide what gets done and who does it. If you want help with any of it, we can talk about what it would take.
What this audit does not cover
This audit is not a legal opinion or a certificate of ADA compliance. Scripted testing does not replace a session with a screen reader. Before you publish a formal accessibility statement, I recommend a manual screen reader pass with NVDA or VoiceOver.
